Will remote work continue?

Let’s find out!

5 New Trends In Remote Work

These are the top new remote work trends:

  1. Hybrid remote work is becoming more popular than remote work.
  2. Remote work continues to improve productivity.
  3. Companies are saving more money with a remote workforce.
  4. Remote work is creating healthier lifestyles.
  5. New remote work tools are changing how we collaborate.

Got some more time? Great! Join me as I look at these 5 remote work trends in detail.

1. Companies And Employees Prefer Hybrid Remote Work

This year, the debate between telework vs. remote work may finally end. But we won’t be all returning to the office.

It seems like there’s a compromise: hybrid remote work.

A Mckinsey study found that 90% of employers plan to implement a hybrid remote work model.

A hybrid remote work model involves an employee working several days from home and the rest in the office. I can get behind this remote work trend; it’s the perfect compromise.

And how do the employees feel about this new remote work trend? Accenture asked 9,000 workers. The result? 83% of respondents prefer a hybrid remote work model.

Pew Research backs this up. They found that 55% of workers want to work from home for at least 3 days a week.

Survey Monk also found that 65% of workers want a hybrid work model.

It’s clear: remote work isn’t going anywhere. What factor is driving businesses and employees to embrace this new work model? Productivity.

Remote work leads to fewer workplace distractions.

2. Remote Work Is Still Improving Productivity

Remember those 11 shocking statistics about remote work productivity

Well, it seems like productivity is still at the top of everyone’s priority list. And remote work is the answer to even more productivity.

Open Sourced Workplace found that hybrid remote work models improved productivity by 22%. This remote work trend is set to continue.

Apollo Technical came to the same conclusion. They found that 30% of employees are “very” productive when working from home.

Companies are making more money with higher productivity levels. But that’s not the only way that companies are making it big.

3. Companies Save Money With Remote Workers

One of the top remote work trends impacting us is that companies are saving loads of money. Let me explain.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta expects companies to reduce office space by at least 10%. Just imagine the cost savings in office space alone.

But, it’s not the only way that companies are saving costs.

Salary.com surveyed over 10,000 employers. They found that 34% of employers will pay remote workers less than their office-bound counterparts.

The reason for this? Fewer expenses like office furniture, tools, and space.

67% of employers will only adjust salaries based on competitiveness and 43% on the cost of living.

Here’s another eye-opener:

58% of employers found they could save even more costs because of geographic differences.

It’s clear: companies save big when adopting a remote workforce.

Here’s my pro tip: Contact Mark, the CEO of Sauce Remote, and start that conversation about hiring remote employees. He knows his stuff.

However, companies are not the only ones saving more with this remote work trend. Employees are also smiling on their way to the bank.

Deloitte found that 45% of employees claim their travel expenses are cut by 50% to 74%. Remote employees like myself can boast of nearly 100% savings!

And what do we do with all of this extra money? We live healthier lifestyles.

4. Remote Workers Are Healthier

Here’s a remote work trend I love: remote workers are healthier and will continue to live healthier lifestyles than office-bound staff. Proof?

The Global Work-Life Survey surveyed employees in multiple industries worldwide. They found that only 26% of remote workers experience burnout. Their office-bound coworkers? Up to 41% experience burnout.

In the same survey, 65% of remote workers claimed to be “extremely satisfied” with their jobs. Again, office-based employees fell behind, with only 34% being “extremely satisfied.”

It’s not the only study that picked up on this remote work trend.

Accenture found that 40% of remote workers stated they could be healthy and productive while doing remote work.

The same study also found that remote workers are happier. 42% of remote employees reported their happiness as above “8” compared to only 21% of office workers.

Now, it’s time to look at the final remote work trend that will impact our future.

5. New Remote Work Tools Are Changing How We Collaborate

Remote work tools are changing how we collaborate. The latest trend?

Survey Monkey reports that 58% of work-from-home employees use more remote work tools than a year ago. This trend is going to continue.

Deloitte found that only 1 in 5 remote employees think more collaboration tools should exist.

And if you’re curious, workers over 65 are less likely to use remote work tools, while 34% of employees think companies should pay for their home office setups.
